MONDAYS, Studio Art: Drawing and Painting | Ages 10 - 13 | 5:15 - 6:45pm | Sept 8 - Dec 8 | Tigermen Den | No Class Oct 13, Nov 24
with Blair Price

Ages: 10 - 13
In this studio class, young artists will build skills in drawing and painting while exploring a wide range of materials, including pencil, graphite, charcoal, oil pastel, watercolor, and acrylic paint. Each session begins with a focused technique lesson—such as color theory, shading, composition, perspective, figure drawing, or portraiture—followed by time for students to apply what they’ve learned to their own creative projects. Students will develop confidence in their artistic voice through guided instruction, one-on-one support, and a nurturing peer community. Regular critique sessions help students learn how to talk about their work and give thoughtful feedback to others. The class culminates in a public gallery show, where students will present their final pieces inside our magical Enchanted Forest house float!
MEET THE TEACHER:
BLAIR PRICE (she/her) is a New Orleans native interior designer, freelance artist, and NOCCA alum. She earned her BA in Graphic Design from Loyola University New Orleans, before moving on to an AA in Interior Design, and Kitchen and Bath Design, at Delgado. She has spent the last decade cultivating her skills in the decorative arts, working under several notable designers and artists in the city, before opening her own residential design firm in 2020. Blair has also traveled twice to Reggio Emilia, Italy, to attend the Reggio Children's conference, where she observed children who were given the instruction that they needed to learn and discover holistically through art. She believes that students must be able to see themselves as unique contributors to our culture and society. This level of autonomy breeds incredible artists.
