Lights, camera, action! In this class, you'll dive into the world of filmmaking—from old-school Hollywood legends to today’s indie flicks and global hits. We’ll break down epic movie scenes, figure out what makes them unforgettable, and then use that magic to create our own films. You’ll get to experiment with scriptwriting, storyboarding, cinematography, production design, and acting. Chose to team up with friends or work on your own project! We encourage students to work on their films between sessions, bringing in new content to share each week. We’ll also get hands-on with apps like Capcut, Procreate, Stop Motion Studio and Canva. Whether you're into deep stories, hilarious sketches, or artsy edits, this class is your chance to bring your vision to life. Check out our students’ films on our YouTube Channel!

MEET THE TEACHER:

Rebecca Fox (she/her) has lived in the New Orleans area since birth, graduating from Loyola University New Orleans with a Bachelor of Arts in 2005.  She’s been active in the Louisiana Film Industry since 2007, working as a Script Supervisor, and Health & Safety Manager, but has had over a dozen unique film industry roles.  In between films she works as a freelance writer, social media maven, and digital media editor. Rebecca has been a Team Leader for the 48 Hour Film Project: NOLA since 2019,  and this is her 11th year participating.    Her hobbies are Treasure Hunting, geocaching, and Scavenger Hunts, and you’ll regularly find her hosting trivia and game shows (she’s been on several televised ones!)  She is so happy that her creative hodge-podge background can be used to help younger generations explore their varied interests!

Students may decide to work in groups or individually to craft their own video content. We will explore scriptwriting, storyboards, cinematography, production design, and acting. Students will work with a variety of digital media apps including Capcut, Procreate, Stop Motion Studio, Canva and more.
