Art Camp 504

The possibilities are endless with Procreate! Learn one of the most powerful and user friendly digital art platforms available on the IPad. This is a beginners course for students looking to learn techniques and composition for Procreate on the iPad and iPad Pro. We begin by studying the color wheel and learn how to create our own color pallets. Students learn how to stack and edit layers, and explore a variety of special effects and animation techniques. We then begin work on our final projects - starting with composition. Students learn how to shade, add texture, and refine their final projects.

Materials Needed: iPad with Procreate installed, Apple Pencil or a stylus, Enthusiasm and imagination!

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:

AKSHITA MONGA (she/her) is a realist and figurative artist, currently living and teaching in Barcelona, Spain. She’s previously trained as a digital artist and gone on to work as head illustrator for a youth magazine - arre.co.in creating relevant illustrations for write-ups and news stories. She’s also worked with writers and film-makers to create Children’s Story Books and Graphic Short Stories & Commissioned paintings. Akshita is currently working as an advanced oil painter and graduated from the renowned Barcelona Academy of Art, which is a traditional atelier school, training artists in 19th Century European Classical Art. Her works have been displayed at Nippon Gallery, Mumbai, India, Mrs. Toolips Gallery, Barcelona/Vienna, Guinizzelli Space, Barcelona and many more. We met Akshita through our graphic designer Maya Jevans, they were studying together at the Academy of Art in Barcelona. CLASS 1 – Introduction to Procreate

• Explore basic tools and features. Learn about layers, brushes, and tips to make Procreate fun and easy. Review brush options and how to adjust them.
• Homework: Test every brush, pick two favorites, and be ready to share why.

CLASS 2 – Color Theory & Palettes

• Review brushes, then learn about the color wheel and how to make custom palettes. Draw a simple object using your palette.
• Homework: Create several palettes and use one to draw a favorite object.

CLASS 3 – Working with Layers & First Project

• Organize your workspace with layers and start your first project (character, object, portrait, or landscape).
• Homework: Add detail to your project using different tools.

CLASS 4 – Complex Tools & Final Project Start

• Begin your final project using three layers: sketch, details, and final outline. Experiment with background layers.
• Homework: Create a small illustration using the three-layer method.

CLASS 5 – Adding Effects

• Learn effects like shine, texture, gradients, and shading. Apply them to your project.
• Homework: Draw an object with an interesting texture using learned techniques.

CLASS 6 – Perspective & Finishing Touches

• Learn to use perspective for depth and distance. Add final details to your project.
