Open to new and advanced players. Dungeons and Dragons presents endless possibilities and allows you to roleplay as a hero in your own story. Players work together as a team to decide how to respond to problems and solve them. D&D is not only fun-- it's a group social activity that teaches teamwork, cooperation, storytelling, problem-solving, and even math. D&D has become one of our most popular classes, we are so excited to introduce a new generation to this timeless and unique game!
MEET THE TEACHER:
ADAM LEDET (he/him) is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology's Interactive Media and Game Design program with a bachelor's degree in Game Design and Development. He has professional experience in the video gaming industry as a Game Designer for companies including Second Avenue Learning, where he helped to publish a mobile game; Blizzard Entertainment, where he interned with Hearthstone's Mission Design team; and Noxcrew, where he aided in the design and development of the Minecraft server "MCC Island." Adam is happy to be in his third year participating with Art Camp 504. Adam is a pianist, singer, and thespian who loves to evoke emotions in others through his crafts. Adam's love for Dungeons and Dragons has colored his life, and he is excited to guide new players through the TableTop Role-Playing experience! Come hang at the Tigermen Den Clubhouse — a chill, creative hangout just for you! Each afternoon has a variety of activities—you can play board games and foosball, film your own short movies, design playlists, bedazzle your clothes, make art, or just hang out with friends (or meet new ones!). This is an unstructured environment where you can sketch, collaborate on projects or just take time to work on your own ideas. Whether you’re looking to meet new friends or just relax, Tween Afternoon is a great way to spend your Saturday afternoons!
- FOOD INCLUDED: Pizza (vegan/gluten free options available), drinks (tea, soda, sparkling water, juice), sweet treats.
- BOARD GAMES: Chameleon, Codenames, Scrabble, UNO, Othello, Cranium Hoopla, Skip-Bo, Innovation, Chess, MORE COMING SOON!

SUNDAYS, VIRTUAL: Intro to Digital Drawing on Procreate | Ages 9 - 12 | 11:00 - 12:00pm | Sept 14 - Oct 19

The possibilities are endless with Procreate! Learn one of the most powerful and user friendly digital art platforms available on the IPad. This is a beginners course for students looking to learn techniques and composition for Procreate on the iPad and iPad Pro. We begin by studying the color wheel and learn how to create our own color pallets. Students learn how to stack and edit layers, and explore a variety of special effects and animation techniques. We then begin work on our final projects - starting with composition. Students learn how to shade, add texture, and refine their final projects.
Materials Needed: iPad with Procreate installed, Apple Pencil or a stylus, Enthusiasm and imagination!
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
AKSHITA MONGA (she/her) is a realist and figurative artist, currently living and teaching in Barcelona, Spain. She’s previously trained as a digital artist and gone on to work as head illustrator for a youth magazine - arre.co.in creating relevant illustrations for write-ups and news stories. She’s also worked with writers and film-makers to create Children’s Story Books and Graphic Short Stories & Commissioned paintings. Akshita is currently working as an advanced oil painter and graduated from the renowned Barcelona Academy of Art, which is a traditional atelier school, training artists in 19th Century European Classical Art. Her works have been displayed at Nippon Gallery, Mumbai, India, Mrs. Toolips Gallery, Barcelona/Vienna, Guinizzelli Space, Barcelona and many more. We met Akshita through our graphic designer Maya Jevans, they were studying together at the Academy of Art in Barcelona. CLASS 1 – Introduction to Procreate
- Explore basic tools and features. Learn about layers, brushes, and tips to make Procreate fun and easy. Review brush options and how to adjust them.
- Homework: Test every brush, pick two favorites, and be ready to share why.
CLASS 2 – Color Theory & Palettes
- Review brushes, then learn about the color wheel and how to make custom palettes. Draw a simple object using your palette.
- Homework: Create several palettes and use one to draw a favorite object.
CLASS 3 – Working with Layers & First Project
- Organize your workspace with layers and start your first project (character, object, portrait, or landscape).
- Homework: Add detail to your project using different tools.
CLASS 4 – Complex Tools & Final Project Start
- Begin your final project using three layers: sketch, details, and final outline. Experiment with background layers.
- Homework: Create a small illustration using the three-layer method.
CLASS 5 – Adding Effects
- Learn effects like shine, texture, gradients, and shading. Apply them to your project.
- Homework: Draw an object with an interesting texture using learned techniques.
CLASS 6 – Perspective & Finishing Touches
- Learn to use perspective for depth and distance. Add final details to your project.
- Homework: Finish your final project and make it uniquely yours!

Level up your drawing game with Art Camp 504! Each Sunday, we come together to learn new techniques, sharpen our sketching skills, and build our creative voice in a relaxed, supportive environment. We’ll cover everything from dynamic gesture drawing to shading, character design, and more. Whether you're sketching from life, diving into imaginative illustrations, or building your art portfolio, this class is all about developing confidence through consistent practice and peer support. We will be working primarily in pencil and dry mediums and will learn academic techniques to level up our drawing skills with a professional artist and professor - Akshita Monga.
All classes include warm-up sketching, short demos, and supportive group feedback.
Tools needed:
- A4 or A3 sketchpad
- HB, 2B, 4B, 6B Pencils

- Mini-assignment: Sketch a portrait from a photo you love
Week 2: Light & Shadow “Shading for Form & Drama”
- Understanding value: light source, core shadow, highlights
- Hatching & shading techniques in pencil
- Sketching simple forms under different lighting
- Apply to a portrait: how light changes mood
- Mini-assignment: Still life or selfie with dramatic light
Week 3: Abstraction “Breaking the Rules on Purpose”
- Intro to abstraction in drawing: what, why & how
- Deconstructing a realistic drawing into shapes and lines
- Using abstraction to express mood or energy
- Mini-assignment: Reinterpret your Week 1 portrait abstractly
Week 4: Simplification “Less is More”
- How to reduce visual clutter while keeping clarity
- Shape-based sketching and contour drawing
- Sketching scenes or figures with minimal lines
- Mini-assignment: Choose a complex object and sketch it in 3 simplified styles
Week 5: Gesture Drawing “Sketching with Movement & Flow”
- What gesture drawing is (and isn’t!)
- Timed figure sketches for energy and rhythm
- Drawing from dynamic photo references
- Mini-assignment: 5 quick sketches based on dance, sports, or everyday motion
Week 6: Personalized Focus & Final Project “Your Style, Your Subject”
- Each student selects a topic based on their interest (e.g. anime, fashion, realism, surrealism, animals, etc.)
- One-on-one guidance on how to apply course concepts to their personal style
- Time to work on final piece
- Final sharing + feedback session

In this class, students discover the art of filmmaking from its early beginnings to modern-day blockbusters. We will watch and analyze iconic film clips that have shaped the industry, from classic Hollywood movies to international cinema and contemporary indie films. Students will explore themes, character development, symbolism, and narrative structure, and use these insights to craft their own short films. Students may decide to work in groups or individually to craft their own video content. We will explore scriptwriting, storyboards, cinematography, production design, and acting. Students will work with a variety of digital media apps including Capcut, Procreate, Stop Motion Studio, Canva and more.
ELECTRONICS: We have iPads available for students to use while at class. If students bring their own iPads, we will share how to download and use a variety of apps.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
Anderson Funk (he/him) is an interdisciplinary creator who makes art films using experimental camera techniques and poetic notions, he strives to reveal the power of the human spirit within each of us, to find new ways forward in trying times, fostering tenderness, clear eyes, and the bravery to keep asking impossible questions. Anderson graduated undergrad with an engineering degree, and worked for many years before going back to school for an MFA. He lets his understandings of these realms inform each other, giving him a unique perspective, a distinctive art practice, and welcoming attitude. Anderson is a member-artist at The Front, hosts a radio show on WTUL, and organizes with Nola to Angola. He grew up in Metairie, then lived all over the U.S. for many years, before returning to New Orleans in 2017. This is Anderson's third year teaching film with Art Camp 504, and he is excited to see new and returning students! Check out his website andersonfunk.com
TUESDAYS, Sketch Squad: Drawing Beyond the Line | Ages 8 - 11 | 5:15 - 6:45pm | Sept 9 - Dec 9 | Tigermen Den | No Class Nov 25

This introductory class is designed for young artists that want to explore and build their technical drawing skills. The curriculum explores fine art techniques such as line work, perspective, shading, and composition. Students will develop their observational skills and artistic vocabulary, from line and form to understanding light, shadow and color theory. We explore a variety of mediums including graphite, charcoal, oil pastels, watercolor paint and ink. With a focus on fostering creativity and confidence, this class provides a supportive environment where each child can discover their unique artistic voice and cultivate a lifelong passion for drawing.
MEET THE TEACHER:
Ray Fontaine (she/her) is a visual artist and designer who helps young creatives build confidence and curiosity through drawing, illustration, and mixed media art. With a background in storytelling and design, her teaching approach encourages playful experimentation, close observation, and personal expression. Ray’s classes introduce foundational techniques while making space for each student’s imagination to lead the way—blending creative skill-building with opportunities to connect art to their everyday world. Through engaging projects and accessible materials, she helps kids develop a strong visual voice and a lasting love for making. Ray runs a local branding agency called Bywater Branding Services, studied Industrial Design at Pratt Institute, and previously taught Visual Communications as an adjunct professor at the Tulane School of Design.
